Quest requirements route

Quest requirements route takes a level 3 account off Tutorial Island to the stats and quest points needed to complete every quest on rs2b2t.

It is a route, not a rulebook. The requirements and quest rewards on this page were read from the server's own quest scripts, so those numbers are exact. The order is a judgement call — if you find a better one, edit this page.

Where you're going

One quest sets almost the whole target. Legends Quest wants 107 quest points and ten skills at once, and nothing else in the game asks for more than it does — except two quests that each ask for one thing higher.

Skill Level XP at that level Demanded by
Magic 59 247,886 Family Crest
Agility 56 184,040 Regicide
Mining 52 123,660 Legends Quest
Crafting 50 101,333 Legends Quest
Smithing 50 101,333 Legends Quest
Strength 50 101,333 Legends Quest
Thieving 50 101,333 Legends Quest
Woodcutting 50 101,333 Legends Quest
Herblore 45 61,512 Legends Quest
Prayer 42 45,529 Legends Quest
Ranged 40 37,224 Temple of Ikov
Cooking 30 13,363 Big Chompy Bird Hunting
Fletching 10 1,154 The Tourist Trap

Nothing requires Attack, Defence, Hitpoints, Fishing, Firemaking or Runecraft at any level. You will gain a lot of Attack and Defence anyway — the quests hand out over 73,000 Attack XP on their own — but no quest is ever locked behind them.

The shape of the problem

  • 135 quest points exist. Legends Quest needs 107. You can afford to skip about four quests' worth, and no more. Treat every quest as compulsory and you will not go wrong.
  • 43 of the 64 quests have no skill requirement and no quest point requirement. They are worth 91 quest points between them — comfortably past the 32 that Dragon Slayer wants and the 55 that Hero's Quest wants.
  • Only 21 quests are gated at all, and most of those gates are in the teens and twenties.
  • The whole difficulty of this route is the last stretch: seven skills at 50 or better, for one quest.

The consequence is the plan. Do everything that is free first, because it hands you quest points and a large amount of XP for no training at all. Then walk up the gates in order. Then grind the fifties once, at the end, knowing exactly what you still need.

The route

1. Everything that has no requirement

Do all 43 open quests. In no particular order, except that Dragon Slayer unlocks at 32 quest points and Hero's Quest at 55, so leave those two until you have the points.

Two are worth going out of your way for early:

  • Waterfall Quest — 13,750 Attack and 13,750 Strength, with no requirements whatsoever. On a level 3 account this is the single biggest thing you can do, and it takes you to roughly 30 in both.
  • The Knight's Sword — 12,725 Smithing, needing only Mining 10. That is Smithing 29 from nothing.

Others that matter later: Holy Grail (11,000 Prayer, 15,300 Defence), Fight Arena (12,175 Attack), Tree Gnome Village (11,450 Attack), Dragon Slayer (18,650 Strength and 18,650 Defence).

At the end of this phase you should have 91 quest points and no training done.

2. The teens and twenties

Now the cheap gates. Train each skill only as far as the next quest needs it:

Quest Needs
Nature Spirit Crafting 18
Shilo Village Crafting 20
Elemental Workshop Crafting 20, Mining 20, Smithing 20
The Tourist Trap Smithing 20, Fletching 10
Tribal Totem Thieving 21
The Grand Tree Agility 25
Digsite Quest Thieving 25, Agility 10, Herblore 10
Troll Stronghold Thieving 30, Agility 15
Big Chompy Bird Hunting Cooking 30, Ranged 30, Fletching 5
Eadgar's Ruse Herblore 31
Scorpion Catcher Prayer 31
Lost City Woodcutting 36, Crafting 31
Horror from the Deep Agility 35

Three of these pay for themselves several times over. Digsite Quest returns 15,300 Mining for Thieving 25 — that is Mining 41 on its own. Eadgar's Ruse returns 11,000 Herblore for Herblore 31, which lands you at 40. The Grand Tree returns 18,400 Attack and 7,900 Agility for Agility 25.

3. The forties

  • Watch Tower — Mining 40, Agility 25, Thieving 15, Herblore 14, Magic 14. Returns 15,300 Magic, which is most of the way to Magic 40.
  • The Fremennik Trials — Woodcutting 40.
  • Temple of Ikov — Thieving 42, Ranged 40. Returns 10,500 Ranged and 8,000 Fletching.

Ranged is finished here and never comes up again. So is Fletching, Cooking and Herblore.

4. The fifties

This is the wall, and there is no way around it. For Legends Quest you need Mining 52, and Crafting, Smithing, Strength, Thieving and Woodcutting all at 50 — plus Agility 50, which Regicide is about to raise to 56 anyway.

By now the quests have already given you a large part of Strength (about 50,000 XP, half of what you need) and useful chunks of Mining, Crafting and Smithing. Thieving and Woodcutting are the two you will have barely touched — see the walls below.

5. The two that go higher

  • Regicide — Agility 56, Crafting 10. Returns 13,750 Agility.
  • Family Crest — Magic 59, Crafting 40, Mining 40, Smithing 40.

Magic 59 is the largest single number on this page: 247,886 XP, of which the quests give you about 23,000. Start chipping at it much earlier than this if you can — it is the one requirement that will hold you up on its own.

6. Legends Quest

107 quest points and the ten skills. Finish it and nothing in the game is locked to you.

The four walls

Everything else falls out of quest rewards and short top-ups. These four are real training:

Skill Target XP needed Given by quests Left to train
Magic 59 247,886 ~23,000 ~225,000
Agility 56 184,040 ~14,000 ~170,000
Woodcutting 50 101,333 ~6,000 ~95,000
Thieving 50 101,333 ~9,500 ~92,000

For Agility, the courses are the only real option and the Agility Skill Guide has the XP per lap. The Wilderness course pays 586.4 XP a lap, so the remaining 170,000 is roughly 290 laps — but it is in the Wilderness, and this is an anarchy server. The Barbarian course is 114.5 a lap and safe, which is about 1,490 laps.

For Thieving, the Thieving Skill Guide lists the success chance of every target at every level, computed from the server's tables. Success rate matters more than XP per attempt when you are choosing what to steal from.

Magic and Woodcutting are straightforward, just long. See the skill guides.

What here is judgement

The requirements, quest point values and quest XP rewards are read from the server's scripts and are exact. These parts are opinion, and are the parts worth arguing with:

  • Doing all 43 open quests before any training. It front-loads the free XP, but it does mean a long stretch of travelling at level 3.
  • Leaving the fifties until last rather than training Thieving and Woodcutting alongside the earlier quests.
  • Treating Magic 59 as the thing to start early.

If you have run this and found a better order, change it.
