Using Prayers

As well as using magic spells you can also pray to the gods of RuneScape to give you an advantage. To view the available prayers, select the prayer icon from your interface. You can see what each prayer does by moving your mouse over the icon. The list of prayers shown will light up when you are at the appropriate level to use them. If the icon for the prayer is darkened then you are not at a high enough level to use that prayer. Each of the prayers can be turned on or off individually. Whilst a prayer is in use, your player will be given an advantage depending on the prayer. To activate a prayer just left click on it. The icon will light up to indicate the prayer is active. Click on the prayer again to deactivate it.

Whilst you have prayers active your prayer-points will slowly drain down to zero. The more prayers you use at once, and the more powerful they are, the faster your points will drain. When you runout of prayer-points all the effects will be deactivated, and can't be used again until you recharge your prayer-points. To recharge your prayer-points you must find a church in the game, and left click on the altar to recharge. You are then ready to use the different prayers again.

To use the prayers for longer, and to use the higher-level prayers in the game you need to increase your total prayer-points. You do this by burying bones from monsters you kill. Take the bones, and then left click on them in your inventory to bury them. You need to bury quite a lot of bones to advance a level, but luckily they are quite easy to come by.

The Monastery

Players with a prayer level of 31 or greater may enter the Monastery located west of Edgeville.

Inside they will find an altar that when prayed at will give a temporary prayer boost. Also players will be able to get their holy symbols enchanted by Brother Jered, as well as find some priest robes to take.

Prayers

There are many different types of prayers. Below is a table of each prayer and the effect it has when you use it. When using prayers, your Prayer points will be consumed. When you run out of Prayer points you will have to visit an altar to recharge them. Members can also drink Prayer potions to restore prayer.

The Experience Table

There are many different types of bones you can bury in the RuneScape world. Below is a table of different bones that you can bury. Different types of bones give different amounts of experience. Some bones are harder to get than others.

Where to get Bones

Now you know the basics or prayer, but you may be asking yourself, "where can I get some of these bones to bury?" Well, you could always buy the bones, but that could really put a hole in your bank. The cheapest way to raise prayer is to just kill monsters for the bones. If the text is red, it means the monster is in a members only area.

Regular Bones
Most of the smaller monsters in the RuneScape world drop regular bones. A great spot for raising prayer with regular bones is the Khazard battlefield (members only). There are some monsters that do not drop any bones, however. Some examples include: Spiders, Scorpions, Animated Axes, Earth Warriors, Demons, Ghosts, Otherworldly Beings, Imps, Ice Warriors and some quest monsters.

Burnt Bones
Burnt bones can be found at the Greater Demon hut in the wilderness. They give the same experience as normal bones, but are "burnt". Be careful of Player Killers when gathering these bones.

Bat Bones

Bat bones are dropped by those pesky flying bats. They give a tiny bit more experience than normal bones. They are recommended for members that have low level prayer. Bats can be found at the following places: Giant Bat (lvl 27) - Giant room in Taverley Dungeon Giant Bat (lvl 27) - Outside Keep LeFaye Giant Bat (lvl 27) - Inside Legend's Guild Dungeon Giant Bat (lvl 27) - Coal truck mining area Giant Bat (lvl 27) - Various other underground caverns

Wolf Bones

Wolf Bones are pretty much the same as normal bones. You can bury them for the same amount of experience as a normal bone, or you can use a chisel on them to make some arrow heads. Wolf bones are obtained from killing different types of wolves spread through the runescape world. Wolves can be found at the following places: White Wolf (lvl 25) - Around White Mountain Desert Wolf (lvl 27) - Al Kharid Desert Area White Wolf Sentry (lvl 31) - Around White Mountain Grey Wolf (lvl 64) - Wilderness level 50-54 Wolf (lvl 64) - Khazard battlefield, Rellekka, Tree Gnome Village Maze Big Wolf (lvl 71) - Around White Wolf Mountain

Big Bones

Big Bones are the best bone on F2P. They give 15xp each and are dropped by bigger creatures. There are many monsters that drop big bones. Monsters that drop big bones can be found at the following places: Hill Giant (lvl 28) - Edgeville dungeon Hill Giant (lvl 28) - Tree Gnome Village Maze Moss Giant (lvl 40) - Varrock Sewers Moss Giant (lvl 40) - Wilderness Moss Giant (lvl 40) - Near Baxtorian Falls, Crandor and Brimhaven Ogre (lvl 48) - Ardougne Sewers Ogre (lvl 48) - Blood Rune Chest Jogre (lvl 48) - Karamja Jungle Ice Giant (lvl 54) - Blurite Cave Ice Giant (lvl 54) - Wilderness Ice Giant (lvl 54) - White Wolf Mountain Fire Giant (lvl 93) - Wilderness Fire Giant (lvl 93) - Inside Waterfall

Babydragon Bones

Babydragon Bones are dropped by Baby Blue Dragons in the Taverley dungeon. They were one of the most popular and fastest methods for raising prayer. Baby Blue Dragons do not have dragons breath so you do not need an Anti-Fire shield to train on them. Babydragon bones can be obtained at the following places: Baby blue dragon (lvl 43) - Taverley Dungeon next to Blue Dragons. Baby red dragon (lvl 65) - Karamja Dragon Dungeon.

Dragon Bones

Dragon Bones used to be the highest bone in Runescape. They give 72xp each and are expensive if bought from other people. They are hard to obtain if you are a low level due to Dragons being quite strong. When fighting Dragons, Anti-fire potions or an Anti-fire shield are pretty much required. Dragons can be found at the following places: Green dragons (lvl 79) - Level 13 and 37 Wilderness Blue dragons (lvl 111) - Taverley dungeon, Hero's Guild basement cage, Ogre cave (Watchtower Quest) Bronze dragons (lvl 131) - Karamja Dragon Dungeon Red dragons (lvl 152) - Level 39 Wilderness, Karamja Dragon Dungeon Iron dragons (lvl 189) - Karamja Dragon Dungeon Black dragons (lvl 227) - Taverley Dungeon, Wilderness Dungeon at end of Lava Maze Steel dragons (lvl 246) - Karamja Dragon Dungeon King black dragon (lvl 279) - Level 41 wilderness
